The International Alfajor Fair kicked off on Friday at the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU) in the capital Montevideo and will run until June 15.
Alfajor, a popular Latin American sweet, typically consists of a layer of dulce de leche (caramelized milk spread) sandwiched between two cookies and is coated in chocolate for a crumbly texture.
