LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Feb 22, (PIA) -- This capital town felt the coldest temperature recorded for this year on Sunday (Feb. 21) over the weekend with chilling 7.9 degrees Celsius

The recorded temperature was read at 630AM on Sunday at the Benguet State University Agricultural Meteorological Research Station facility located at the BSU Compound here, according to Frank Raga. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Weather Specialist

Raga said the low temperature is caused by the Northeast Monsoon or the amihan which is the cool and dry northeast wind coming from Siberia and China and blows down to Southeast Asia affecting the Philippines.

On Friday, the BSU Agromet recorded 9 C,

Also on Sunday, the PAGASA recorded 9C in Baguio City, its coldest day so far for the year.

The cold weather may continue as the country is still affected by the amihan season.(JDP/RMC- PIA CAR)
