BEIRUT, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Cuban Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Moraga called upon the new U.S. administration to respect Cuba's sovereignty, Elnashra news website reported on Thursday.
Moraga stressed that Cuba wants the new American administration to "act in a civilized manner like the administration of former U.S. President Barack Obama."
The envoy noted that the Cuban economy lost about 5.5 billion U.S. dollars last year as a result of the blockade.
He pointed out that the blockade inflicts great damage on the health sector in Cuba and prevents the country from obtaining the necessary equipment for patients.
"We have signed agreements with Iran to jointly develop a vaccine against coronavirus and to continue research to develop other vaccines," Moraga added.
