BONTOC, Mountain Province, July 13(PIA)--Local officials reiterates the advisory to the public to stay home and conform to health protocols and guidelines for everyone's safety as the province records its second positive COVID-19 case.

"It is with a heavy heart that we inform that 26 days after we had our first positive COVID-19 case, we now have a second (2nd) positive case. The patient is a 29-year old female, an LSI (who used to work as house helper) who went home to Paracelis from Manila last July 3, 2020. She is from Bananao, Paracelis," Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. stated on Sunday.

"Again, we earnestly remind everyone to continue being vigilant and compliant of minimum health standards for all our sake," he added.

Paracelis Mayor Marcos Ayangwa also appealed to his constituents to cooperate, stay home and be safe as he ordered the lockdown in the whole of Barangay Bananao starting 6pm yesterday until further notice while contact tracing is being done.

Ayangwa said the first confirmed case of the municipality is a locally stranded individual who stayed in Manila for four months. She boarded a commuter van to Santiago City and was fetched by the municipal car and arrived in the municipality last July 3. As a standard protocol for returning residents, she was isolated at the Barangay Isolation Facility of Barangay Bananao. She was swabbed on July 6 and the result came out on July 12 with positive for COVID19.

With the lockdown, aside from the prohibition of entry to and exit from the barangays, all previously issued travel passes of residents in Bananao are cancelled and would be confiscated at checkpoints when presented.

Liquor ban is also in effect during the lockdown. (PIA Mt. Province)
