To be sure, the EFF's manifesto does have some good points. Universities to offer degrees in areas such as coding, robotics, biotechnology. Much better than useless degrees that don't equip a graduate for employment. Plus things like a minimum sentence for public representatives convicted of corruption.

But right there is a problem for Floyd Shivambu, who was allegedly funded by Bosasa. And even Malema himself who had a VERY dodgy political start in Limpopo with various suspect tenders. Not to mention an apparent R1 million 'loan' from Mazzotti. Can a leopard change its spots?

But on to the manifesto: 'The State must own all land.' Huh? That's pure Communism. And as any student of history knows, Communism has ruined and been kicked out of over 50 countries. A proven epic fail ideology.

Then the EFF wants 'new schools in all provinces, tablets for all learners, quality spacious houses for all the people.'Just how, EFF? How?

Julius, do you know how many of South Africa's 57 million inhabitants are registered for tax? Only about 13 million. And of those, fewer than half actually pay tax, being below the threshold. Furthermore, economists have estimated that only about 3.5 million South Africans pay 95% of all taxes. Note - ALL taxes!! That's personal tax, VAT, corporate tax, CGT, fuel levies and dozens of other stealth taxes. And these people are already being taxed to death.

So, where, EFF, is the money going to come from for all your grandiose plans? Oh, you'll print more money, perhaps? Ummm, like Venezuela (one of Julius's favourite countries) did. They're currently running at one million three hundred thousand percent inflation. A REALLY good role model, Julius, hey?

And speaking of tax, with the vast majority of EFF supporters being unemployed, how many actually of them pay income tax. My guess would be 1% or less. So the guys who don't pay for the country to run, want to run the country?? Umm. Just. No.

And Julius, you seem to think that owning land automatically GIVES you money. As a hard-pressed taxpayer for many years, I want to tell you that instead, owning land COSTS you money. For rates and taxes. For water. Sanitation. Electricity.

Only some 5% of people actually want to be farmers; it's hard work and very capital intensive. So where is the money going to come from to pay for the privilege of having land? Oh, I forgot, the government is going to own it. And then presumably also pay for your water, electricity and sanitation. With money sucked out of thin air, right?

No, sorry EFF. Your manifesto has some good theory. But it scores a zero for practicality. Definitely NOT the way forward for a prosperous South Africa.

(And finally, if you think I am paid to write stuff like this, I'm not. I'm just a practical soul who has contributed more to South Africa via my taxes over the years than 99.99% of all EFF members. And am trusting for SA to rise out of the ashes, being governed by good guys, with the bad guys going to jail. It's gonna happen. So Floyd, Julius, maybe you guys should be getting a little nervous right now? And, I would suggest, also go back to the drawing board for a new manifesto for SA's future.)
