He also said there are 544 hotels, homestays, and resorts in the region of which 159 are accredited by DOT. There are two hotels and resorts that are rated 3-star, nine 2-star, and eight 1-star.

He also urged other tourism facilities to apply for accreditation to ensure that they will give the best accommodation and other services to the tourists.

Batanes island

For Batanes province, Maguigad said the island province registered 30, 844 tourists and it is rapidly increasing annually.

"But the province is regulating the influx of their tourists so as to ensure that they can accommodate all of the tourists coming in their area," Maguigagad.

He said Batanes, which is a very small island, have a very few hotel and homestays. They also need to ensure that the environment and the tourist sites will not be compromised by the daily influx of tourists. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
