Israeli judge says bank should not return Holocaust money
Caribbean News.Net Tuesday 18th November, 2008
A judge in Israel has given an opinion that Bank Leumi is not legally obliged to hand over money it had held for people who died in the Holocaust.
The bank’s board asked the judge to examine its liability after a demand from the state-owned Company for Locating and Retrieving Assets of Holocaust Victims for the funds.
The company asked the bank in March for money in 1,299 accounts belonging to Holocaust victims, totaling some US$65 million plus interest, for the benefit of the heirs of the victims.
Judge Or, in a report on the matter, criticized the parliamentary committee that made the order for the return of the assets, saying the committee had no binding authority and the bank had no legal obligation to pay the funds, which had been revalued over the years due to interest accrual.
Judge Or said: "A Holocaust victim was not and could not be the owner of the retroactive revaluation increment. This addition did not exist during the victim's lifetime."

Israeli judge says bank should not return Holocaust money
Welcome to office Obama, on top of it all, you will find notice of the governments intentions. You will see that attached to it is the equivalent of the evidence necessary for all, in the name of one. No quid pro quo.
And financing? Unavailable.

Israeli judge says bank should not return Holocaust money
Isn’t this special. If it had been a Non-Jewish bank, they would have played Holocaust card to the max. How people are so mean to the Jewish people, have they not suffered enough in the camps. Now their relatives can’t get what little was left behind. But since it is a Jewish bank, everything is just peachy. Blood thirsty bastard, anything to make a buck.

Israeli Judge?
SHAME!
Even the Dead Nazi’s are smiling! This is beyond belief. Legal slavery, legal murder, legal impoundment of all that the Jew’s had. All very legal! That so
called Judge should not bear the title
and has no business on the bench!

what year the bank interest rates come into affect anyways?
if the ruling was in favor of the families, who would have such a large sum to pay off, in a short amount of time?
(considering the financial needs of countries today)

Headline Misleading: Interest Only
From what little information we have here, the headline seems to be wrong. The Judge is saying that the holocaust victims are entitled to the ORIGINAL MONEY (PRINCIPAL) and the interest accrued during their life time.
But now the heirs of the holocaust victim are seeking to recover the money of their parents or grandparents.
The Judge is saying that the INTEREST accrued after the victim died does not have to be turned over.
Why, I don’t know. Maybe because interest is questionable under Mosaic Law to begin with? But the Judge is NOT saying that the original money can be withheld... only the interest.

Sympathy for the victims?
To Anonymous: The people in Gaza have murdered their neighbors and brothers, the Jews. They cannot now complain about the results of Palestinian violence.
Allah commanded the Muslims to honor “the people of the Book” the Jews. Did you know that the Quran and several Hadiths admit that that land belongs to the Jews, not the Muslims? The Quran says this.
Egypt and Jordan live at peace with Israel. The Palestinians instead commit murder and violence, and they receive in return the “reward” for their violence. The people in Jordan next door live in 100% PEACE. WHY? Because they are not killing Jews.
HOW can it be that Allah allows the Palestinians to be treated this way? Is Allah real? Then why does Allah not protect the Palestinians against the Jews?
Because Allah commanded the Muslims to honor their brothers, the Jews. Muslims have violated Allah’s command and made war on their brothers. Allah is angry at the Palestinians for this sin of violence.
Remember that both Israel (Jacob) and Ishmael were both sons of Abraham. Yet Israel (Jacob) wants only a tiny, tiny piece of land less than 0.001% of the Arab world to live in. Ishamel (the Arabs) will not give their brothers even a very, very tiny piece of land. Allah is punishing the Muslims for this sin.

So who does get the money?
If the Holocaust victims are not entitled to the money, what happens to it? Does the bank get to keep it? That can’t be right.

Its wrong but I have little sympathy
While I think it is wrong the Holocaust victims are not to receive money that seems to be theirs, right now I find it difficult to sympathise with them because of their indifference to the holocaust taking place next door to them in Gaza. I think all Jewish people that have experienced the holocaust should be up in arms at the starvation and deprivation of their neighbors, particularly when the devastation sweeing across that region is being caused by their government.

Jon Moseley, you have no idea of what you are talking about, the Jews were promised the land, yet each time they hardened their hearts and turned away from God-Allah (One and the Same)! By doing that they forfeited their right to the land! than they returned to Palestine and wrested the land from their brothers (half-brothers at least) by force with the help of the so called free Nations (what a laugh!) now they are committing genocide to clear the land of Palestinians as if the were vermin! But their time will come as is foretold by the prophets, but not before 2/3 of them (the Jews) have been wiped from the face of the Earth! Than the prophet Isa will return and all will face God-Allah on the Last Day to be judged and receive according to his or her works, may peace be upon us all
